It is accessible from late April, but the best time to visit is from late July to the end of August. During this period, the valley showcases a breathtaking display of hundreds of wildflowers. However, visitors should exercise caution to ensure their visit does not harm the delicate ecosystem. It is also advisable to carry a little salt as the valley tends to be infested with leeches during the wettest weather when the flowers are at their best.

They gather and, led by the yellow flags symbolizing their monotheistic faith, commence their arduous pilgrimage to Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib, situated on the other side of the magnificent glacial lake of Lokpal. Surrounding this serene and austere lake are several snow-covered peaks. The climb to Hemkund Sahib is steep, and it holds great significance as Sikh Guru Gobind Singh mentioned in the holy book, The Granth Sahib, that in a past life, he meditated on the shores of a lake encompassed by seven snowcapped mountains, now identified as Hemkund.
