Hornbill Festival Tour

Festival Date : Hornbill festival is for whole One Week 1st to 7th of December



Hornbill Festival is named after the hornbill, the globally respected bird and which is displayed in folklore in most of the state's tribes . The Festival is Organized by the Nagland Tourism and Art & Culture Departments, This festival usually takes place between the 1st to the 7th of December every year in Kohima . All the tribes of Nagaland take part in this festival. The aim of the festival is to revive and protect the rich culture of Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions. . Every Day there will be different activities and presentation During the Festival .

Destination : Delhi - Dimapur - Kohima - Mokokchung- Mon - Dibrugarh - Delhi



DAY 01 : ARRIVE DELHI

On Arrival in Delhi Transfer to your Pre booked Hotel . Overnight at Hotel

DAY 02 : DELHI - DIMAPUR BY FLIGHT VIA KOLKATA DIMAPUR - KOHIMA

Morning Transfer to Airport to board Flight for Dimapur via Meet upon at the airport and drive to Kohima. Check in at Hotel . Evening stay at Hotel

DAY 03 : KOHIMA.

Full day Visit Hornbill festival. Evening stay at Hotel

DAY 06 : KOHIMA - MOKOKCHUNG

After breakfast drive to Mokokchung, the district headquarter situated at an altitude of 1325 meters above sea level. This picturesque town is the cultural centre of the AO Nagas. The AO warriors used to wear the beautiful black and red handwoven shawl with its white decorated band to signify their prowess over their enemies. The two main festivals of AO's are Moatsu in early May and Tsungremmong in August. Evening stay at Circuit House.

DAY 07 : MOKOKCHUNG

In and around mokokchung. Evening stay at Circuit House.

DAY 08 : MOKOKCHUNG - MON

After breakfast drive to Mon the District headquarter of Mon District situated at an altitude of 897.64 meters above sea level. It is the home of the Konyaks tribes. Here it is intresting to see the tattooed faces wearing feathered headgears and traditional dress. Konyaks are adept artisans and skilled craftsmen. Here you can find excellent wood carvings, daos (Machetes), guns, gunpowder, headgears etc. Evening stay tourist lodge.

DAY 09 : MON

DAY 11 : MON - DIBRUGARH

After breakfast drive to Dibrugarh . On Arrival check in at Hotel . Evening stay at Hotel .

DAY 12 : LEAVE DIBRUGARH

Transfer to Airport to board Flight for Onward Journey .

Note : we can also visit Some places depending on the time we spent in festival. Visit to Khonoma, an Angami tribal village. 20 km towards the west of Kohima, the village has its own traditions of valour and courage. History reveals that khonoma provided protection to several villages in good old days. The village gate tells the story of the British infiltration into Naga .Hills. War Cemetry : A symbolic memorial raised as citation for the supreme sacrifices made by the officers and man during the IInd World War. Museum : The state Musuem treasures rare collection of articles of different tribes which speak about the history and tradition of the Nagas. Also visit to local market.
