Ajmer is the land of composite cultures is situated in the heart of the desert of Rajasthan. Ajmer is flanked by the Ana Sagar Lake on one side and the Aravalli hills range on the other. Ajmer is situated 11 km away from the famous Hindu pilgrimage called Pushkar, which is known for the only Brahma temple here.

The climate is mostly hot and the two rivers are important water sources, the Luni and the tributaries of the river Banas. The city was founded by Raja Ajaipal Chauhan in the 7th century and continued to be the major center of power till 1193 A.D. when Prithviraj Chauhan lost it to Mohammed Gaur.

Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage place for the Hindus as well as Muslims. The famous Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti is in Ajmer and is popular among the Hindus and the Muslims equally. It is known as the final resting place of the Sufi saint. It is centre of culture and education.

The annual urs at the Dargah is held on a grand scale which attracts pilgrims from all over the world
