Snooty Ooty was the capital of the Madras Presidency and served as the capital of the Madras Presidency. Some of the charming Raj-era bungalows still stand in the town, contrasting with the bustle of Indian life and the quiet of parks and gardens.
With its low temperatures and scenic views, both the miniature train and road can make the journey to Ooty quite romantic. Ooty's pleasant weather makes it a great place to escape the heat between April and June. In the winter, however, carry some warm clothing or buy them cheaper in Ooty if you're traveling between October and March. Forest parts marked as natural reserves might require special permission for camping, and you might need it to camp there.
A fossil tree that is believed to be more than 20 million years old is found in the Ooty Botanical Gardens, which were established in 1847 and cover an area of about 22 hectares. An annual May festival is held at the gardens, which is a favorite among tourists and nature lovers. Doddabetta Peak is another tourist attraction in the district due to its elevation. There is no better vantage point around Ooty than this one, just 10 km away.
