Jatayu Earth Center is a tourist attraction situated at Chadayamangalam in the Kollam district of Kerala. It is located about 38 km away from the city Kollam and 46 km away from Trivandrum. It holds the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture. It is 200 feet long, 150 feet broad, and 70 feet in height, and has 15,000 square feet of the floor area of the bird structure Jatayu. The historical significance of the great bird Jatayu as per Ramayana, when Rawan abducted Sita to Lanka. Jatayu fought valiantly with Rawana. As Jatayu was very old, Rawana defeated Jatayu. Lord Rama and Lakshmana, while searching for Sita found, dying Jatayu, who informed them of the flight and direction of Rawana headed. As per the legends, Jatayu is said to have fallen on the rocks of Chadayamangalam after his wings were clipped by Rawana. The World’s Largest Bird Sculpture, Swiss-made Passenger Rope-way (Cable-car), and Rock Adventure Activities are Live.
