Nature of Trek : Hard Trek (Hight ALtitude Trek)
Kalindikhal Trek is a trek that takes you halfway round Garhwal from the Bhagirathi Valley to the Alaknanda Valley. A trip only for those who have done high altitude treks before; its very mention gives a thrill to even the most seasoned of climbers. The trek starts from Gangotri and takes you through Nandavan, the base of the Bhagirathi peaks, a place that offers an unparalleled view of the Shivling peak. The trail moves on to Vasukital (4900 m) with towering peaks all around the lake, its surface shimmers like a pearl and is the source of the Vasuki Ganga that drains into the Mandakini.
We proceed to cross the Kalindikhal pass (5968 m), a tough climb from where you feel that there is little else left to be seen. It is as if you are a part of this majestic setting of snow peaks. The trail then descends to Arwatal and Mana the last village on the Chinese frontier. The trek fittingly ends at Badrinath with a visit to the holy temple.
ITINERARY
DAY 01 : ARRIVE DELHI
Upon arrival in Delhi, you are met and transferred to your pre-booked hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 02 : DELHI - RISHIKESH (230 KMS/6-7HRS)
After an early breakfast drive towards Rishikesh, en route glimpses of Ganga Ghats & Temples in Haridwar later proceed to Rishikesh. Upon arrival check into your pre-booked hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 03 : RISHIKESH - UTTARKASHI (170 KMS/ 4-5 HRS)
After having an early breakfast drive to Uttarkashi(1150 mt), upon arrival In Uttarkashi check into your pre-booked hotel. After Lunch visiting some good places to see around. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 04 : UTTARKASHI - GANGOTRI (3048 M/ 10,000 FT) DRIVE (95 KMS/3-4 HRS)
Today morning after an early breakfast drive to Gangotri(3048 m) Via Harsil by covering about 95 km in 3-4 hours. Upon arrival check into your pre-booked hotel/Tourist bungalow.
DAY 05 : GANGOTRI - BHOJWASSA (3792 M/12440 FT) TREK (14 KMS /5-6 HRS)
After breakfast today we trek towards Bhojwassa for about 14 Kms taking 4-5 hrs following the river Bhagirathi on the right bank. Its a beautiful trek having magnificent Himalayan sights and you will have a panoramic view of snow-clad mountains around. Upon arrival at bhojbasa, stay at Tents/camps.
DAY 06 : BHOJWASSA - NANDANVAN (4337 M/14230 FT) TREK (6 KMS / 4-5 HRS)
After an early breakfast, we go for 4-5 hrs trek to reach up the beautiful Bhagirathi group of peaks. The trekking takes place through Gangotri glacier. From here view the Shivling, Bhagirathi, Sudarshan, The peaks, and Kedardome. Overnight at Camps.
DAY 07 : NANDANVAN - VASUKI TAL (4880 M/16000 FT) TREK (6 KMS / 4-5 HRS)
Today morning trek to Vasukital following Chaturangi Glacier taking 5-6 hrs to cover. It's a wonderful base for Mt.Satopanth and Mt.Vasuki Parbat with the small lakes. The trek is steady upwards. Overnight at Camps.
DAY 08 : VASUKI TAL - KHARA PATHAR (SURALYA BAMAK) (5480 M) TREK (6 KMS/3-4 HRS)
After an early breakfast, go for trekking to Surajaya Bamak(Khara Pathar) carrying packed lunch along with. Overnight at Camp at Moraine.
DAY 09 : KHARA PATHAR - KALINDIKHAL BASE (5500 M/18040 FT) TREK (8 KMS / 4-5 HRS)
After an early breakfast go for trekking up to 10 km to reach out to Kalindikhal Base(Sweta Glacier)(5500 mt). Overnight at Camps.
DAY 10: KALINDIKHAL BASE - RAJA PARAV (4910 M/16105 FT) TREK (12 KMS / 6-7 HRS)
After an early breakfast, toDay start trekking up to 12 km to Kalindi Pass(5947 mt). Spare some time over there and later trek down to Rajparay for Dinner and Overnight at Camps.
DAY 11: RAJA PARAV - ARWATAL
Morning after breakfast trek to reach Arwatal (3910 mt) 13 km from Rajparav. Overnight stay in the camp.
DAY 12: ARWATAL - GHASTOLI (3796 M/12450 FT) TREK (16 KMS / 5-6 HRS)
After an early breakfast go for trekking to Ghastoli(3796 km), Which is 16 km away from Arwatal. Overnight at Camps.
DAY 13: GHASTOLI - MANA - BADRINATH (3096 M/10155 FT) TREK (18 KMS / 5-6 HRS)
Today morning after finishing breakfast trek to Badrinath placed on the bank of river Alaknanda. There are several interesting legends connected with its area of the Garhwal Himalayas behind the temple. For instance, rises the 6,604-meter high Neelkanth mountain, Glittering like a cold, faceted diamond.
Badrinath is cupped by the NAR and NARAYANA mountains. There is a belief that these two mountains are creeping together very, very, slowly and when they meet Badrinath will cease to exist. Village Mana is placed above Badrinath on the cold border of India. It is inhabited by tough, Indo-Tibetan people. above it and to one side, a stream gushes out of a cave and is spanned by a natural rock “bridge”.
The “Bridge” is said to have been laid by the powerful Bhim, strongest of the Pandava brothers. The stream is reputedly the legendary Saraswati. Not far from it is the cave-shrine of Vyas Gufa. After visiting all trek down to Badrinath.Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 14: BADRINATH - JOSHIMATH(44 KMS)
Early morning visits the temple later have breakfast and proceed towards Joshimath. Upon arrival check into the hotel and overnight at Hotel.
DAY 15: JOSHIMATH - RISHIKESH (257 KM)
After an early breakfast drives down to Rishikesh. Upon arrival in Rishikesh check in to your pre-booked hotel. If time permits, get to visit sightseeing sites like Laxman Jhula, Thirteen storied temples, Geeta Bhawan, Parmarth Niketan, and later join the Arti ceremony at Triveni Ghat. Come back to Hotel and Overnight stay.
DAY 16: RISHIKESH - DELHI (227 KM)
Early morning breakfast and later drive back to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi transfer to airport for onwards journey.
