
Nagaland is one of the Indian states situated in the North-East India. Government of Nagaland organizes the Hornbill Festival every year to promote cultural heritage of Nagaland through inter-tribal cultural exchange during a weeklong fiesta. It appeals not only Indian but also foreigners. Naga people consider this festival sacred and so participation is must for them. More than half a population of Nagaland depends on agriculture leads most of their festivals revolve round agriculture.
Festival takes place at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, which is at a distance of 12 km from Kohima. It is held between 1st and 7th of December every year. Hornbill festival is organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture Department. It is an effort of the Government of Nagaland towards protection of culture of Nagaland through festivals like this. Therefore, go and get an opportunity to enjoy Culture, tradition, food, music and dances of Nagaland in first week of December.
